No time to wait for the postman to deliver? Here's our list of last-minute gift ideas.

• Would he like a surprise weekend away? Check out Warner Leisure Hotels and see if they have any 'book it and go' discounts. You can print out the booking information and a couple of pictures of the hotel from their site.

• Chocolate Now have a nice feature where you purchase (and print out) a gift voucher. With this chocolates voucher the fortunate recipient can then go to the site and put together their own box of chocolates, even down to choosing their favorite flavours.

• If you do not have time to wait for mail-order then you could buy him a Amazon Gift Certificates gift voucher which you can print out from their site immediately. With this he can buy CDs, DVDs, Books, Computer Games and an entire host of other things.

• It may already be too late for this but some merchants such as Interflora offer a same day delivery option if your order is put in early enough.

• How about chocolate delivered every month for a year. Get him a membership with the Hotel Chocolat tasting club. You can print off their membership certificate and pop down the high street for a box of off-the-shelf chocolates to keep him going for the time being.

• How about taking him out for a meal. At least this is something you can sort out by phone (and, if necessary, make out that you booked it weeks ago!).
